Standard Bank wanted to enhance its eMarketTrader platform to provide corporate treasury clients with a faster, more intuitive way to manage Money Market and Foreign Exchange (FX) trading activities.
Built on the Caplin trading platform, eMarketTrader offered sophisticated financial trading capabilities, but the experience needed to be adapted for Standard Bank's clients and aligned with local market requirements. The bank also wanted to expand the platform by introducing new Money Market capabilities, allowing clients to view live interest rates, submit transaction requests, and access historical trade information from a single digital experience.
The challenge was to simplify highly specialised financial trading workflows while maintaining the speed, accuracy, and transparency expected in professional trading environments.
As the Lead Product Designer, I was responsible for designing the end-to-end user experience for the Money Market offering within the eMarketTrader platform.
Working closely with Standard Bank, Caplin, product owners, engineers, and FX trading specialists, my role was to create a seamless, web-based trading experience that balanced complex financial functionality with intuitive, efficient interactions for corporate treasury users.
Collaborated closely with Standard Bank and Caplin teams to understand existing trading workflows, business requirements and user needs, working with product owners, engineers and FX trading specialists throughout the design process.
I led the end-to-end UX and UI design for the Money Market experience, including user research, stakeholder workshops, journey analysis, information architecture, user flows, wireframes, interaction design, high-fidelity UI design, interactive prototyping and usability testing.
I designed key experiences across live Money Market pricing, interest rate visibility, trade execution, transaction requests, historical trade information and cross-currency workflows.
Applying Lean UX principles, I rapidly validated concepts with FX traders and treasury professionals to ensure the platform supported real-world trading behaviours and decision-making while reducing friction within complex financial workflows.
